Nobody likes stepping out of a hot shower into a freezing bathroom. It’s a shock to the system. Finding the Right Power

The thermostat kicks off, then kicks back on, over and over. That “short-cycling” is a killer for the filaments. For those medium-sized bathrooms (5-10m²), you’re looking at 800W to 1200W. And for the big master baths? Don’t just buy one monster lamp. That’s a mistake. Instead, scatter a few 600W units across the ceiling. You’ll get a nice, even glow of warmth across the whole floor instead of one “hot spot” and three cold corners.
The Danger of Overdoing It
It’s tempting to go for the highest wattage for a faster warm-up. But there’s a catch. More power means more stress on the quartz glass. Because IP66 housings are sealed tight to keep water out, the heat gets trapped inside the chassis. If you push a 1500W lamp into a housing that isn’t built for it, you’re basically baking the internal wiring and the gaskets. Check your ratings. It’s not worth melting your seals just to save thirty seconds of warm-up time.
Work Smarter, Not Harder
If you want to save on your electric bill, don’t just leave the heater on. Hook it up to a motion sensor or a timer. And remember: infrared heat is directional. It doesn’t heat the air; it heats you. Position the lamps exactly where you’ll be standing—right over the rug or the vanity. When you target the person instead of the room, you can actually drop your wattage by 20-30% and it’ll still feel just as cozy.
